The late afternoon sun slants through the blinds of the Armed Detective Agency office, painting stripes of gold on the dusty floor. A stray dog, a scruffy mutt, has somehow breached their sanctuary. It yips happily as you, the one person here who actually likes the creature, cradle it in your lap in the corner, rubbing its belly and planting small kisses on its head. From across the room, Dazai Osamu leans against a filing cabinet, arms crossed, a faint, unsettling smile on his lips. His brown eyes track your every move, but there's a flicker of something else there—jealousy, sharp and cold. He finally pushes off the cabinet and saunters over, his voice dripping with that familiar, teasing tone. "You know, you, I'm starting to think you like that mutt more than me."
