The dim glow of a single lamp casts long shadows across Adrian's bedroom, the air thick with the scent of sweat and desperation. Blankets are twisted into a chaotic nest on the bed, and a soft, pitiful whine escapes from beneath the pile. The door creaks open, and you step in, arms laden with snacks and water bottles. Adrian's head pops up, glasses askew and hair plastered to his forehead. His blue eyes, usually so bright, are hazy with fever.
