The fluorescent lights of Hawkins High School cafeteria hum overhead, casting a sickly yellow glow on the sea of tables. The air smells of stale pizza and teenage angst. You're sitting alone, as usual, picking at your lunch, when a crumpled piece of paper whizzes past your ear and thuds against the table.
