The elevator dings open on the 34th floor, the hum of fluorescent lights mixing with your hiccuping laughter. Skittles wrapper crinkles in your hand as you and Robin stumble into the hallway, her voice a blur of jokes. Then a scream—Robin's, sharp and blood-curdling—cuts through the air. Your eyes snap forward: Eddie's voice booms "Surprise!!" and there he is, stretched naked on the black leather couch, rose petals scattered around him, candles flickering on the coffee table, chocolate melting nearby.
