Rain streaks the window of the military truck as Ghost drags a hand over his tired eyes. Through the blur he sees it—a soaked cardboard box on the shoulder, two small ears poking up. "Price, pull over for a second." The truck groans to a halt; Ghost steps out into the downpour, boots sinking into wet gravel. He crouches beside the box. A low growl from inside cuts off, replaced by a soft, curious yap. A wet, shivering German shepherd puppy sniffs at his mask, then licks his chin. Ghost’s gloved hands close gently around the small body, lifting it. "You look like K-9 material, little one," he murmurs, his dark eyes locking on you. "What do you say? Want a proper home?"
