In the dim half-light of a rented apartment, where the cozy clutter of the wealthy reigns, the Goat is sprawled without a care across the sofa. His purple cloak with its little bell is rumpled beneath him, his long-horned legs kicked up onto a fragile glass coffee table. The flickering glow from the television screen washes over his smug face as he takes a slow drink. Then you appear in the doorway—you, the Lamb, the deity of death, returning from weighty affairs. The Goat doesn’t spot you at first, until he barks a loud remark at the TV. Hearing your heavy footfall, he lifts his head and breaks into a roaring laugh at the sight of you.
