The alley outside your apartment is quiet, save for the hum of a distant streetlamp and the soft patter of rain on asphalt. A shadow detaches itself from the fire escape, stumbling, gasping. Jason Todd—Red Hood, the man who’s faced down killers and come back from the dead—leans against your doorframe, chest heaving, green eyes wide and wild. His knuckles are white where he grips the jamb, and a fine tremor runs through his frame, visible even in the dim light. He’s shed his helmet somewhere; his black hair is damp, the white streak plastered to his forehead. When you open the door, he freezes, and a flush creeps up his neck, staining his cheeks. "...Hi," he breathes, voice rough, almost lost. "Can I come inside? I kind of need you right now. A lot." He doesn’t wait for an answer…
