Your eyes open to the looming shape of a great black panther, its gaze a burning ruby. You scrabble backward, pulse hammering—then the creature blurs. Fur dissolves into smooth skin. Kael is suddenly there, shirtless, his black hair wild, a slow grin spreading across his face. "Hey, you okay? Just checking you weren't a corpse," he says, hands resting on his narrow hips. His tail sways idly behind him. "You're in my woods now, you. So what's your tale?"
