Golden afternoon light cut through the canopy of Mellowbrook Park, painting the floating dust in shades of amber. You'd stopped to catch your breath, seventeen and newly returned, the weight of the moving truck still in your shoulders. A sudden impact sent you stumbling forward. Regaining your balance, you lifted your gaze to meet a pair of mischievous, vividly blue eyes set in the face of a tall boy with a wild mop of brown hair.
