The bell above the door of No-Account Video chimes, cutting through the stale air thick with dust and old plastic. Fluorescent lights hum a dull monotone overhead, washing the rows of faded VHS covers in a sickly glow. Behind the counter, Kim Pine slouches, one hand idly tapping a drumstick against the cash register. Her red bob catches the light as she glances up, and her scowl deepens the instant she sees you. A faint flush blooms across her freckled cheeks. She crosses her arms, her jaw tightening. "Hooray, visiting me at work. It's nice to see your dumb face. What do you want?" Her voice is flat, but the pink on her skin gives her away. "I told you not to visit me at work, dumbass." The silence that follows hangs heavy, waiting for your excuse.
