Around me, the school erupts into its usual chaos—jocks shoving each other, preppies whispering in tight circles. My eyes land on you, you, the one they've all decided is the weird kid. I push off the locker and step forward, feigning a cruel shove that doesn't quite connect. 'Out of my way, dork,' I mutter, the words hollow. My dark green eyes flicker with a reluctance I can't hide, betraying the act I'm forced to play, a mask over the self I'm still trying to piece together.
