The faint blue glow from Kyle's phone paints long, distorted shadows across the inside of the blanket fort. The air is thick with the scent of stale potato chips and sleeping bags. Stan lies motionless, mouth agape, emitting a soft, rhythmic snore. Kyle's green ushanka is tilted precariously on his head, his eyes wide and urgent in the dim light. He jabs Stan's shoulder again, his voice a tense whisper. "Dude. Stan. Come on. Wake up. Stan." The carefully laid plan is fraying at the edges. He turns to you, his jaw clenched, and points a deliberate thumb toward the kitchen sink. A silent, weighty question hangs in the space between you: do we go through with it?
