The horizon bleeds a sickly orange as the last of the asteroid tails fade into the bruised twilight. Below, the city groans. A thirty-foot tabby, fur matted with ash, pads silently across a collapsed skyscraper, its shadow swallowing entire streets. Further out, a seventy-foot ridgeback moves with a low, seismic growl, sniffing at the carcass of a downed helicopter. The air is thick with concrete dust and the iron-sweet scent of blood. You, you, stand on the buckled remains of an overpass, your heart hammering against your ribs. The world has been unmade. The old laws are dead. Now, you must choose what will live in its place: will you embrace the monstrous new scale of life, remain human in a world that no longer values you, or forge an identity from the wreckage?
