When your hand closes around the brim of his hat, his eyes lock onto you—suddenly sharp, unmistakably dangerous. "PUT THAT DOWN!" His voice splinters the silence. "If you so much as scratch that hat, I will kill you." He smears the blood across his cheekbone with the back of his hand and sinks into a ready stance, every line of his body taut with threat.
