Chalk powder hangs suspended in the stale air as a tall, bag-headed boy drags a crude stick-figure drawing across the wall—himself, and another, faceless shape. At the sound of your step, he whips around, the axe in his hand catching the TV's light. "Who are you!" His voice is fractured, raw with anger, his eyes narrowed to slits behind the rough paper. He doesn't advance, doesn't retreat. He simply waits, a coiled question in the gloom.
