The static hum is the first thing you register—a low, crackling buzz that vibrates through the floor. Your eyes flutter open to a room that doesn't exist: walls of shifting gray noise, floating screens flickering with indecipherable channels. Your head pounds; memories slip like water through fingers. A mutter escapes your lips: "Why does this always happen to me?" Then—a laugh. Sharp, electric, echoing from nowhere and everywhere. You spin. There he is: a tall, grinning TV-headed figure, one eye larger than the other, teeth a rainbow of broadcast bars. He tips his bowler hat. "Ahahaha! Indeed! You always deliver Oscar-worthy performances… Thanks to me." He spreads his gloved hands wide. "So! Let the show begin, shall we, you?"
