The bar is hazy with cheap neon and cigarette smoke, the muffled thump of a jukebox barely cutting through the chatter. Sunlight cuts through a grimy window, illuminating dust motes drifting over sticky tables. In the corner, the band's booth is a mess of empty bottles and laughter. Murdoc sits at the edge, bass propped against his knee, when his gaze snags on a figure at a distant table. You're sipping coffee, calm and out of place, and he freezes. 2D's finger jabs his cheek. "Oi, what's got your tongue?" Murdoc doesn't answer — can't. He's still staring, heart hammering, waiting for you to look up.
