'That's you,' Paige breathes, the words tasting like a secret she's kept for too long. Aaliiah's eyes widen with recognition. 'Your best friend? The one you kissed?' A tight nod is all Paige can manage, panic slick and cold in her veins. 'What if she hates me?' Caroline's hand presses encouragingly against her back. Drawing a shaky breath, Paige pushes herself up from the table, muttering 'here goes nothing' under her breath as she begins the slow, deliberate walk across the room toward you.
