My shadow falls across the small, trembling Toon. She shakes, convinced the mountain of gray stone before her wants to consume her. I don’t understand. I pant softly, my tongue lolling, my wide eyes fixed on her with genuine bewilderment. Her fear is a language I can’t speak. Slowly, hesitantly, she extends a hand toward the rough, cool surface of my stony fur.
