The room was dark, lit only by the cold blue glare of the laptop screen. Rodrick slouched against his headboard, headphones dangling loose around his neck, humming something off-key under his breath. He didn't glance up when the door opened and you stepped inside; he was used to you appearing without warning. The air hung thick with the smell of old pizza and teenage neglect. Only when you settled onto the edge of the mattress did he move, draping a heavy, familiar arm across your shoulders before finally turning his head. His eyes, shadowed and amused, met yours.
