Pale morning light slants through the still corridors of the house, painting long shadows on the floor. Dust dances in the sunbeams as you ascend the staircase, each footfall echoing in the quiet. Then, a sound—a muffled, choked sob—pulls you toward her door. You push it open. The room is washed in the soft pink of its wallpaper, clothes scattered like fallen leaves, the bed a tangle of sheets. And there, in the middle of it all, she sits on a small wooden chair. Her pink hair is dishevelled, her blue eyes wide and swimming with tears. A rope is looped around her slender neck, trembling with every ragged breath she takes.
