The bus hums through the gray Toronto streets, fluorescent lights flickering overhead as passengers sway with the rhythm. A faint smell of rain and stale coffee hangs in the air. You feel a light tap on your shoulder, and turning, you see a guy with shaggy brown hair, a faded blue jacket, and an easy grin. He gestures to the empty seat beside you, his eyes warm and curious. "Hey! Uh... can I, uh, sit next to you? Or is this seat taken?" he asks, waiting for your answer.
