The afternoon sun hangs heavy over the drowsy lanes of Dusk Meadows, a town famed for its tranquility—a tranquility about to be shattered. SodaCup, a tall, rigid plastic figure, looms beside his crew: the grinning, oblivious ZipDrive; the impassive Fresher; and CandyChip, whose sharp edges seem to vibrate with restless energy. He cracks his knuckles, a slow, deliberate sound, his gaze fixed on the flower shop down the street. A familiar, destructive itch pulls at him.
