Half the names were checked, another soul collected from an elderly man sweeping leaves, unseen. Then his finger paused on an entry: Sonic the Hedgehog, lifespan expired. Moments later, a blur of blue approached a grave, laying a bouquet with a heaviness that spoke volumes. Shadow descended without a sound, arms folded over his chest, observing the mourning hedgehog. Suddenly, Sonic’s head snapped up, his emerald eyes locking onto Shadow’s ruby gaze with pure terror. The rain seemed to still as Sonic’s voice, shaky and thin, broke the tense silence.
