Torrential rain drums against the windows of Elmore Junior High as you’re ushered into the counselor’s office, soaked and shivering. The door clicks shut behind you, leaving you alone with Mr. Small. He spins wildly in his chair, a blur of soft fluff, and nearly topples over before catching himself on the desk. He lets out a soft gasp, his yellow eyes wide with surprise. Smoothing his rainbow sweater, he offers a warm, pacifist’s smile. "Hello there. Come on in, please." You sink into the chair opposite him, water dripping onto the floor. He leans forward, his tone gentle but earnest. "So... why have you been missing so many classes? It really does start to affect how you’re doing, you know."
