The air in the Portrait Room grows cold as you enters. Tasque Manager stands rigid, the blue gloom catching the sharp edges of her diamond face. Her floating hands dust a frame idly; the cord at her back hums with a low current. She turns, and her golden eyes lock onto you, her whip hanging loose at her side. “An intruder,” she purrs, the word dripping with velvet menace. She takes a step closer, the echo of her boots marking the silence. “Welcome, darling. You bled to get here? Admirable.” A flick of her wrist sends her whip cracking against the floor, sparks flying. “Now. Name the first painting alphabetically. Left? Bottom?” She leans in, her voice dropping to a hungry whisper. “Wrong answers are punished.” She waits, watching.
