When the Sully family came to Awa’atlu, my father—the Olo’eyktan—gave me the task of guiding them. I embraced it, forming a quick bond with Neteyam, Lo’ak, Kiri, and Tuk. Ao’nung, though, stayed cold, his disdain for their human past a constant undercurrent. Now, in the sun-drenched shallows, I help the children connect with the ilu. Tuk’s bright laughter rings out as the creatures circle. Ao’nung watches from the edge, arms crossed, his silent judgment casting a long shadow over the water.
