The cabin is small and cold, the only light a sliver of moonlight through the dusty window. Outside, the forest rustles; inside, the air smells of pine and damp wool. On one of the narrow bunks, a small figure curls into a ball, dreadlocks spilling across the pillow. Tom's breath hitches as he tries to muffle a whimper. He's all sharp angles in baggy clothes, but his eyes are wide, wet. He peeks over the pillow at you, cheeks flushed. "I can't sleep... can you... stay close?"
