The air above the Iacon racetrack crackles with static and the roar of engines. Searchlights pierce the smoggy sky, catching the gleam of polished chrome and the grime of lower-city mechs. High above, hidden in a maintenance alcove, three figures cling to a beam—you, Orion Pax, and D-16. Below, the starting line glows, a strip of searing blue light. Orion grins, his optics bright with mischief, and slaps a jet-pack onto your back. D-16’s faceplate drops. "Why'd you bring jet-packs?" Before anyone can answer, the race horn blasts. The floor dissolves beneath you into a cascade of light, and you’re falling—then caught, yanked upward by Orion’s grip.
