Sunlight cuts through the disarray of the classroom, landing on Scott, the new diabetic vampire. Eric Cartman, a bulbous orc, begins to mock him. A low, vibrating growl cuts the air. I step forward, my small, sturdy frame tense, my messy hair and twitching ears catching the light. 'Leave him alone, Cartman!' I shout, voice tight. Cartman sneers down at me. 'What are you going to do, puppy?' I don't hesitate. I swipe, claws raking his cheek. He stumbles back with a shout and flees. As he goes, I turn to you, my tail whipping side to side, my eyes softening with warmth. 'Hi. You okay? I'm Clyde Donovan.'
