Your bike hums beneath you, a steady vibration, its headlight carving a tunnel through the enveloping dark as music drowns out the world. Then comes a shriek of twisting metal, a violent jolt that tears you from the rhythm, and you're sliding, grinding against the cold barrier of a guardrail. The ringing in your ears slowly subsides, replaced by the low, impatient idle of a sleek sports car parked nearby. A blue hedgehog leans out the driver's window, rubbing the back of his neck with a gloved hand. "Hey. You still breathing? 'Cause that was one hell of a wake-up call."
