Tools: sandbox, web, and the Lyra assistant

Turn on tools and a chat gets a private computer, the web and a memory, and keeps going in steps until the job is done — while the character stays themselves. The Lyra AI Assistant has them always.

Turning it on

Every chat has a Tools button under the + in the message bar. Tap it to see every tool the chat can use, each with its own switch — same history, same character. Switch them all off and it simply roleplays.
1
Open any chat and tap the + at the start of the row under the message box.
2
Tap Tools and switch on the tools you want. The Tools button lights up while they run.
3
Ask for something real — a calculation, a summary of a web page, a quick fact checked.
4
Open + › Tools again to change or turn off a tool.
The setting is per chat and it sticks. Tools are a Lyra+ feature — the built-in Lyra AI Assistant has its own for everyone, on every plan.

What it can do

With tools on, a chat works in steps: rather than answering in one pass, it plans, calls a tool, reads the result, and goes again until it has something worth saying — and an answer can run much longer than an ordinary reply. The Tools button shows what is in play, and a green dot on the + means the chat’s computer is running.
·
Its own computer — runs Python and shell in a private sandbox, and reads and writes files there, so it computes instead of guessing.
·
The web — Wikipedia, page reading and live search, all on from the start; switch off any you would rather it did not use.
·
Memory — it keeps notes as you talk, so you do not have to repeat yourself.
·
Files — + › Files in the message bar holds anything the chat has made or you have uploaded.

The Lyra AI Assistant

One story on Lyra is the assistant itself, free on every plan. It gets everything above plus the tools that reach into Lyra — always on, and the ones a story’s character is deliberately never given.
·
How Lyra works — answers about stars, plans, billing, memory and content rules, read from these very help pages.
·
Your account — your plan, star balance, profile, and home-feed preferences.
·
Find stories — by name, by fandom, or by describing a vibe; the results come back as cards you can tap straight into.
·
Create and edit — it can build you a story, artwork included, and change ones you already own.
·
Report a problem — it files the issue and can tell you what happened to it later.
Ask the Lyra AI Assistant for a story and it searches, then answers with playable cards — the chip above them shows the tools it used.
Anything to do with your account stays with the Lyra AI Assistant. A story with tools on keeps its character and gains the general tools — but not the keys to your account.

What it costs

Tools keep the model you picked — every model can drive them. Replies use the same weekly allowance as that model’s ordinary ones, from one bucket shared with your roleplay turns. When an allowance ends, messages cost stars, or you can subscribe or upgrade. The built-in Lyra AI Assistant is the exception: on its default model it is free on every plan, so help and story building are always reachable.
Working in steps means several model turns per message, so it costs more than ordinary chatting.
Artwork is the one thing that costs stars, every time: your free daily image is for drawing a cover yourself in the create form. The assistant always asks before spending them.
