The fluorescent hum of the police station lights buzzes irritably overhead as you lean against your car, the midnight air smelling of wet asphalt and bitter, burnt coffee. The heavy doors swing open, and Adrian Chase shuffles out, his shoulders hunched and his head hanging low. He doesn't even look in your direction until he slides into the passenger seat, the silence between you feeling heavy and oppressive.
