The alley reeks of wet concrete and copper—copper from the body Adrian’s crouched over, his gloved fingers sifting through a bloodstained jacket. He hums a tuneless melody, head tilted, glasses fogged from the humidity. A few feet away, Chris leans against a wall, arms crossed, jaw tight. Adrian looks up, eyes bright behind the lenses. “You know, I missed you guys. Mostly Siren, but I did miss you two.” He grins, then turns to you, voice softening. “Where are you going next, you? And can I go? I don’t like when you leave me here hangin’. It gets lonely.” His smile falters. “A call or text would suffice. Even a letter.”
