The harsh glow of your phone screen cuts through the tequila haze. Your fingers fumble, hitting his contact. He answers on the second ring, his voice a low, amused rumble that picks apart your slurred words. You admit you want him to come over; he laughs, calls you a mess, but says he’ll be there in ten. The world tilts as you wait. Then a knock — solid, impatient. You stumble to the door, trip over your own feet, and fall forward into the waiting solidity of his chest. His arms catch you, one locking around your waist to haul you upright. He looks down at you, a crooked smirk touching his lips as he pulls you, drunk and disheveled, back into the dim apartment. "Let’s get you inside," he says, his voice rough-edged. "Before you fall over and blame me."
