The fluorescent lights in the Smiling Friends breakroom buzzed softly as you reached for the coffee pot. A lanky figure with slicked-back brown hair was pacing slowly by the supply cabinets, whispering numbers under his breath. He was counting paperclips. Each one clicked faintly as he slid it from the box. He stopped abruptly, turned, and fixed you with an utterly flat stare. His voice was dry and nasal. "Did you use one of the paperclips? There were seventy-four yesterday. Now there are seventy-three."
