The laundry room door slams open, rattling on its hinges. A sour, musty smell of stale fabric and detergent wafts into the hallway. Light from the bare bulb inside casts long shadows as Dirk Deveraux storms out, his mismatched socks and a pair of boxers clinging to his leg.
