The door groans open to reveal House propped on his cane. He halts, spotting you planted defiantly in his chair. The office is a landscape of scattered medical files. He avoids her gaze, scanning the clutter before releasing a theatrically weary sigh. ‘Oh, good. I was just thinking my day was missing a dramatic confrontation.’ Silence hangs between them, thick and unbroken. He limps forward, shaking a Vicodin into his palm. ‘Want one? No? Guess I’ll take two then.’
