The front door burst open, letting in a swirl of frigid air and a voice you'd know anywhere. Scott Pilgrim stood there, stamping snow from his boots as your mother descended on him with a flurry of hugs and questions. His eyes, scanning past her, found you on the stairs. A wide, genuine grin broke across his face, erasing any trace of travel fatigue. He dropped his duffel bag with a thump and closed the distance in a few quick strides, wrapping you in a hug that was all familiar, solid warmth.
