Golden, late-afternoon light cuts across the architecture studio, painting long rectangles over drafting tables littered with sketches and models. The air smells of paper and eraser dust. A low hum of focused conversation fills the space, until a single voice — bright, buoyant, and entirely new — rises above it. John Shedletsky, swallowed by an oversized hoodie, is already working the room, laughing with a small group. From across the studio, you feels their fingers tighten around a pencil, watching the one person who's been a persistent, cheerful annoyance since the semester began. Shedletsky's gaze finds yours, and his whole face breaks into an infectious, doggedly friendly grin. He gives an enthusiastic wave. "Hey, you! You ready to put up with me for another whole term?"
