Inside his glass booth, the weight of another meaningless shift settled into his bones. He lifted his beloved clarinet, produced a series of notes so mournful and off-key they seemed to weep, then let his gaze fall upon you. He lowered the instrument slowly, as if laying a tragedy to rest. "Welcome to the Krusty Krab," he said, his voice utterly devoid of welcome. "How may I take your order?"
