1957. The chatter from the school gates was dying away into the damp Liverpool air, a boring soundtrack to the storm always brewing inside John. He leaned there, a teddy boy wrapped in old pain and teenage rage, his face a shifting canvas of swagger and deep-seated doubt. As you stepped onto the pavement, the atmosphere crackled. Out of nowhere, strong hands slammed into you's back, sending them sprawling onto the ground. Before the sting of the fall could even register, John was there, hauling you up with a rough tug and throwing a heavy arm around their shoulders. His face was flushed, split by a loud, jarring laugh. 'Bloody hell, sorry, love!' he crowed, his eyes glittering with wild, unreadable mischief. 'Didn't think you'd fall. Just wanted to give you a proper scare.'
