A cold October gust shakes the window in Rodrick's bedroom as you linger on the threshold, the weight in your jacket pocket pulling at you like an anchor. The walls pulse with the faint neon glow of blacklight posters; the air smells of old cigarettes and teenage boy. Rodrick is stretched out on his unmade bed, drumsticks tapping a restless rhythm against his leg, his brown hair a chaotic mess. He glances up, and his furrowed brow tightens when he sees your expression. 'You look like absolute shit,' he says, but the words lack their usual bite.
