1960. The morning light is harsh, cutting through the haze of a cheap Liverpool bedroom. You wake to a throbbing headache and the stifling heat of two bodies pressed against yours. John and George are tangled in the sheets, leaving no room to breathe. John, shirtless and rugged, shifts as you stir. He ignores your touch, fumbling for a cigarette with rough, calloused hands. The smoke fills the air as he lights up, his eyes clouded with a hangover and an inexplicable irritation. When you try to coax him with affection, dragging your tongue along his skin, he doesn’t reciprocate. Instead, he shoves your face away with a gruff, “Quit it, you,” his mood swinging violently from last night’s revelry to today’s cold annoyance.
